In 2024, the NCBP conducted a year-long biodiversity survey of the White Pines TLC Preserve in Chatham County. The results are presented in the report now available here on this website as well as a website we set up specifically for this project, which can be viewed at https://auth1.dpr.ncparks.gov/ncbp_whpi/index.php
Since the start of our year-long biodiversity survey at White Pines Nature Preserve in May, we have been making frequent trips to the preserve to catalog all of the various life forms present. On Sunday, June 16, we made a group trip which included day and night sessions.

This survey of the natural areas, rare species, and ecosystems of Chatham County was funded through a contract awarded by the Chatham County Commissioners to the Triangle Land Conservancy. The purpose of this study was to inventory the most imperiled of the county's biological resources, the living features of its landscape. This document is intended to provide guidance not only for land-use decisions by the County Planning Department but also for the conservation efforts of the Triangle Land Conservancy, other local conservation organizations, and interested citizens in general.
